Terms & Conditions – Rent The Collection

1. Overview

Welcome to Rent The Collection. By using our services or placing an order through our website, you agree to the following Terms of Service. These terms govern all rentals, payments, deliveries, and returns made through our platform. Please read them carefully.

2. Rental Period

The rental period begins on the first day of your selected hire and ends on the last day of your selected hire. Delivery and return days are included in this period.

For example, a 3-day hire from Tuesday to Thursday means:

  • Tuesday: Delivery date

  • Thursday: Return date

If the garment was worn on a Saturday, it must be returned by 12 PM on the following Monday.

All garments must be posted back in person at the post office by 12 PM the day after your event. If your event is on a Saturday, the garment must be returned by 12 PM Sunday.

We strongly recommend booking delivery at least 1 day prior to your event, especially for rural or remote areas.

All postal orders are sent via Australia Post Express. You will receive a tracking number once dispatched. Delivery is guaranteed by 6 PM on your selected date, in line with Australia Post timeframes.

3. Shipping & Returns (Post Hires)

Flat shipping rate: $30 (includes express shipping to you and a prepaid return label).

All garments are sent in reusable satchels. You must retain the original satchel and reseal it with the included return label, ensuring the old label is completely covered.

You must return the garment on the final day of your rental period, by lodging it in person at the post office before 12pm. 

Return delays will incur late fees.

4. Pick-Up & Try-Ons

Pick-up and try-ons are available by appointment only at our Roseville, NSW location.

Try-ons are complimentary and recommended if you have not previously worn the garment.

Same-day or last-minute hires may be available — please email us or message via Instagram to have something arranged.

5. Late Fees & Non-Returns

A late fee of $30 per day applies to overdue rentals.

If a garment is not returned within 15 days, the customer will be charged 150% of the full retail price of the item plus any accumulated late fees.

6. Garment Care & Cleaning

Do not attempt to clean or alter any garment yourself. We handle all cleaning through a professional dry cleaner.

If a garment is returned with excessive staining or damage (e.g. fake tan, makeup, tears, burns, etc.), you may be charged the full replacement value of the item.

7. Damage or Loss

You are responsible for the item from the moment it is delivered until it is returned to us.
You will be charged the full replacement cost of any item lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair. This includes damages from:

  • Fake tan stains
  • Rips or holes
  • Permanent makeup stains
  • Mould, mildew, or perfume damage

Assessments are made at our discretion based on condition and market availability.

8. Refunds, Cancellations & Credits

We do not offer refunds unless the issue is a fault of Rent The Collection (e.g. wrong item sent, item not dispatched).

Refunds are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Store credits are not transferable and have a 12-month validity.

No returns for change of mind, incorrect fit, or postal delays. Try-ons are recommended prior to hiring.

9. Faults, Incorrect Items & Quality

Please be aware that all dresses are part of a rental collection and may show minor signs of wear. If you believe your item is faulty or incorrect, contact us at info@rentthecollection.com.au within 6 hours of receiving it, with photos of the garment.

10. Limitation of Liability

Rent The Collection is not responsible for delays caused by third parties, including Australia Post, or for any loss, damage, or inconvenience caused by:

  • Postal delays
  • Late deliveries
  • Unworn or unsuitable garments

Refunds will not be issued in these circumstances.

11. Payments

We accept payment through:

  • Credit/Debit Card
  • Afterpay
  • Zip
  • PayPal

We do not accept bank transfers.

12. Identification & Security

We do not currently request identification for hires. However, all hire bookings are logged and tracked. Fraudulent activity will be reported to authorities.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

14. Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted to this page and will take effect immediately upon publication.
